The Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in Auchi, Prof. Benjamin Adesina, has declared Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of Saturday’s election for Edo North Senatorial District in Edo.
Oshiomhole scored 107,110 votes to beat incumbent Senator, Francis Alimekhena of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 55,344 votes.
Adesina stated, “Adams Oshiomhole of APC having scored the highest number of votes is hereby declared as the winner of the election conducted on the 25th of February for Edo North Senatorial District.”
Oshiomhole is the former APC National Chairman, Edo State governor between 2008 to 2016 and former President of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), from 1999 to 2007.
