The traders operating in Owode Onirin Market located along Ikorodu Road, Lagos, have condemned the Lagos State Government for demolishing part of the market without a prior notice.
In viral videos circulating on social media, particularly, X, the marketers claimed they were not given notice at all, adding that they were taken by surprise to see caterpillar and government staff storming the market and started demolishing their shops.

One of the traders said, “You can imagine, everything we have sacrificed and worked for just went down within a tinkle of an eye. This is where we are doing business. It is not only Igbos, both Yoruba, Igbo, and everybody. These are our shops, the government came today without any information of demolition, everything. What kind of problem is this? The government is taking people backwards. This is terrible. This is Wonderful Onirin Market on the Ikorodu road.”
