The three major governorship candidates in Oyo State, Governor Seyi Makinde of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Teslim Folarin of All Progressive Congress (APC) and Adebayo Adebayo of Accord have cast their votes at different times in the ongoing 2023 Governorship and State Assembly Election.
After performing his civic duty, Makinde said, “My wife, Tamunominini and I have cast our votes in the Governorship and House of Assembly elections in Ibadan today. As promised, security is tight in Oyo State, so I encourage our people to go out and exercise their civic responsibility without fear.”
The governor, who arrived at the polling unit around 10:30 am, voted at ward 11, unit 01, Abayomi Iwo-Road in Ibadan North East Local Government.
He described the voting process as peaceful and commented on the security operatives for doing a good job.
His Deputy, Bayo Lawal also cast his vote around 9: 36am in the company of his wife, Ajibola at Unit 4, Ward 6, Alafiatayo, Kishi, Irepo Local Government.
Also, Senator Teslim Folarin cast his vote at polling Unit 2, Idi Ose, Ward 5, Ona Ara Local Government.
After voting, the Senator decried the security situation in the state, saying that there are lots of security concerns.
He commended the process of voting saying, “the process of voting is okay. The security agencies have been doing fantastically great. They are overstretched. I am hearing that when they start collating, there is going to be ballot snatching and all of that. INEC is doing very well. The security, police and army are overstretched.”
Folarin urged the residents of the state to participate in the election and should not be scared from coming out to vote.
Bayo Adelabu of Accord Part also cast his vote at unit 10 polling unit of ward 9, Oke Oluokun in Ibadan South East LG of Oyo State.
He announced after voting, “This morning, I joined the entire people of Oyo State to exercise my civic responsibility and cast my vote at unit 10 polling unit of ward 9, Oke Oluokun in Ibadan South East LG of Oyo State.”
