The Oyo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, has scheduled a new date for the suspended Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and joint promotion examination for senior secondary school students.
It would be recalled that the examinations were suspended due to the #EndBadGovernance protests that began on August 1. The dates for some of the exams coincided with the protest necessitating the postponement of the exams.
In a circular letter signed on behalf of the commissioner by Awodeji J.O.(Registrar Examinations) the new date for the exams is set for Wednesday, August 21, 2024.
The remaining subjects for the JSS 3 students writing BECE are Business Studies, Arabic, Igbo and Hausa Languages while for the SSS they will write trade subjects (Animal Husbandry, Book Keeping, Marketing and so on), Arabic language and other school-based subjects.
“I am directed to refer to the above subject and state that the examination date for the postponed SSS1 & 2 Joint Promotion Examination and Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) is slated for Wednesday 21st August, 2024.”
