The Oyo State House of Assembly has expressed displeasure at the slow pace of implementation of the widely publicised South West Security Network, codenamed, Amotekun Corp in the state.
This is coming on the heels of the recent re-launch of attacks on residents of different parts of the state, particularly, the onslaught by yet unknown bandits who attacked some parts of Akinyele local government Area of the state.
The house made this known during its Tuesday’s plenary, describing the attacks as avoidable and provocative.
Honourable Isiaka Arole, who presented the issue before the House under matter of public urgent importance, lamented the rate at which herdsmen have continued to migrate into the state without restrictions or checks despite the available laws.
He stressed that the executive arm should rise to the occasion by expediting actions on full implementation of the Amotekun Corp law.
Majority leader of the House, Hon Sanjo Adedoyin lamented the recent increase in the bandits’ attacks, urging the state government to ensure full implementation of the Amotekun Corp law.
In his contribution, the Minority leader, Hon Ashimiyu Alarape, commended the security operatives over the swift response to the recent attacks by the unknown bandits.
Commending Governor Seyi Makinde for his efforts at improving security in the state, he condemned the attack of bandits in Akinyele Local Government Area where lives were lost, stressing that the bandits have continued to register their presence at Akinyele and Ogbomoso through the recent unabated attacks.
The Speaker, Rt Hon Adebo Ogundoyin, in his remark, said that the state government was making frantic efforts towards full implementation of the Amotekun Corp law, adding that further discussions with the executive arm would follow the plenary deliberation in order to determine level of implementation.
The House, however, commiserate with the families of victims of the attack, urging members of the public to always endeavour to report all suspected movements in their areas to necessary authorities.
