Oyo State Government, on Monday November 22, 2021, charged public and civil servants in the state workforce to put in their best for effective service delivery.
The Commissioner for Establishment and Training, Alhaji Siju Lawal, gave the charge, in his keynote address while declaring open a one-day sensitisation workshop, on effective service delivery and attitudinal change for secretarial assistants.
At the training held at the state secretariat, Ibadan, Lawal noted that employees’ attitude and conducts at work were concomitant to organisational productivity and progress.
He said, “It gladdens my heart to welcome you all to this workshop organised for you in order to key into the developmental agenda of the present administration and to further deepen your knowledge to be able to compete favorably with your counterparts in the Federation. Employees’ attitude and conducts at work are concomitant to organisational productivity and progress. Secretaries are frontline managers. Therefore, their productivity can make or mar the productivity of their bosses.
He acknowledged secretaries as frontline managers, saying their productivity could make or mar the performance of their bosses.
The commissioner said that its ministry decided to organise the workshop, having observed series of unethical attitudes of some secretariat assistants adding, “This Ministry, having observed series of unethical attitudes of some secretariat assistants such as sheer negligence of duties non-challant attitude to work, lobbying for preferential postings and poor quality delivery of services to mention but few has deemed it fit to mount this training workshop”.

Lawal said the workshop would avail them the opportunity to jointly diagnose the underlying factors behind the unethical conducts and proffer appropriate solutions accordingly, urging the participants to make the best use of knowledge gained during the training programme.
In His words, “I implore you all to make the best use of knowledge gained during the training programme so as to become agents to positive change. We should always strive to be the best in the course of discharging our duties to ensure that the catalytic movement of the present administration is sustained to ensure continuous and quality service delivery. In essence, we expect you to leave this sensitization workshop with a complete positive attitudinal change and ideal ethical values and practices that will enhance your productivity towards the upliftment of the State service”.
He also charged them to always strive to be the best in the course of discharging their duties to ensure that the catalytic movement of Gov. Seyi Makinde’s administration is sustained.
Fifty participants were drawn from various state ministries and agencies for the workshop.
