Oyo State Government today approved the extension of the “Light Up Oyo” project to other zones in the state expected to cover 70 roads and 223.42 kilometres of the five geopolitical zones of the state.
The project is the second phase of the project as the first phase only covered Ibadan, capital of Oyo State.
The government equally approved the rehabilitation of two waste dumpsites; Ajakanga in Oluyole Local Government Area and Awotan near Apete in Ido Local Government Area.
Governor Seyi Makinde stated that these decisions were taken at the state executive council meeting held today adding that the rehabilitation of the two waste dumpsites would expand the capacity of the dumpsites so that waste collection and disposal could be carried out more efficiently.
Makinde pointed out that the selection for Private Sector Participants (PSP) to remove solid waste from houses to the dumpsites has been concluded.
