The Oyo State Government has expressed its readiness to work with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to ensure that no motorcycle in the state operates without a registered number plate and particulars.
This was revealed today by the Chairman, Oyo State Board of Internal Revenue, Mr Adebowale Olufemi Awakan, during a familiarization visit to the board by the new Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Corps Commander Joshua Oluwafemi Adekanye.
The Chairman stated that commercial motorcycles popularly called ‘Okada’, are so many in the state, in Oke Ogun Area, where it is a major source of transportation and a lot of them operate without having registered number plate, which is an important documentation.
He said the development was a threat to the security of the state and sought the collaboration of the FRSC to ensure that all motorcycles operating in the state have registered number plates and particulars.
Furthermore, Awakan added that an enforcement exercise would start soon gearing towards impounding motorcycle that is not properly documented with the government.
Adekanye explained that the purpose of the visit was to familiarize the body with the internal revenue, adding that Oyo State came 5th in revenue generation the recent rating by FRSC.
