Oyo State Government has inaugurated Road Safety Club and Advocacy programme in Governor Seyi Makinde’s alma-mater, Bishop Phillips Academy, Ibadan.
The Executive Chairman, Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA), Dr. Akin Fagbemi, who revealed this, said it is in continuation of its efforts to domesticate the club in the state secondary schools.
Fagbemi said, the advocacy team, comprising of National Youth Service corps members, attached to OYRTMA, was to further enhance the actualisation of the Strategic Roadmap for Accelerated Development Plan 2019-2023 of Governor Makinde, particularly in the traffic management and reduction of road crashes involving school pupils and other vulnerable people in the society.
He revealed that, students of Bishop Philips Academy, Iwo Road, Ibadan received OYRTMA’s team with excitement and adopted the initiative by Oyo State Government to sensitise school pupils on road safety tips.
The Academy is the second school in the state where RSC would be inaugurated by the state government, following an initial inauguration at Loyola College, Ibadan two weeks ago.
