In a bid to transform Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomosho to a conventional university, the Oyo State Government led by Engr. Seyi Makinde has renamed the institution to Ladoke Akintola University (LAU).
The Oyo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Professor Oyelowo Oyewo (SAN), in the company of Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourists, Dr Wasiu Olatubosun and Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Barrister Abdulraham Abdulraheem, revealed this at a press conference.
Oyelowo who stated that the state government would soon forward a bill tagged “Ladoke Akintola University LAU” amendment bill to the Oyo State House of Assembly, noted that the change of name it has become necessary so that the school could accommodate other courses in Law, Humanities, Social Sciences, Education and Management.
He said the law establishing the university would be amended as the Ladoke Akintola University Amendment law 2022 which would be forwarded to the state House of Assembly for ratification.
He explained that the development would also allow the management of the institution to establish it’s pension scheme and will be backed by law
