The Oyo State Civil Service Commission has implemented a review of the entry grade level for university graduate nurses within the civil service, upgrading them from Grade Level 08 to Grade Level 10.
The Provost of Oyo State College of Nursing Sciences, Ibadan, Dr. Gbonjubola Owolabi, revealed this development on Wednesday during a meeting with 21 Nursing Tutors whose grade levels were affected by the review.
Dr. Owolabi urged the tutors to uphold professionalism, integrity, and quality in their service, emphasizing the institution’s commitment to training highly skilled healthcare practitioners.
“The institution is out to train nursing and health practitioners and churn out quality manpower who can function effectively in community, primary, secondary, tertiary, and industrial health settings. I urge you to key into this vision, even as the present administration will not deprive you of your rights”, she said.
The review aligns with the resolution of the National Council of Establishment (NCE), which, at its 43rd meeting in 2022, approved the upgrade for university graduate nurses.
Dr. Owolabi commended the Oyo State Government, led by Governor Seyi Makinde, for prioritising integrity and quality in the civil service.
She also revealed that the institution had secured necessary accreditations from regulatory bodies for some of its courses.
Expressing appreciation on behalf of the beneficiaries, a Nursing Tutor, Mrs. Abiola Elizabeth, lauded the state government’s commitment to the health sector.
She stated that the civil service approval further underscored the administration’s dedication to healthcare development.
The upgrade is expected to boost morale among nursing professionals and contribute to improved healthcare services across the state.
