It is a matter of days, the embattled Oyo State Deputy Governor, Engr Rauf Olaniyan will be thrown out of office as the Oyo State High has backed his ongoing impeachment process at the state House of Assembly.
Justice Ladiran Akintola of the Oyo State High Court today dismissed a case filed by Olaniyan challenging the impeachment process to remove him from office by the state House of Assembly.
Akintola, in a judgement, ruled against the deputy governor base on the jurisdiction clause saying that the lawmakers and all the defendants have not erred on the procedures taken in the impeachment process.
He stated that the originating summons filed by the claimant was purely legislative procedures and not judicial in line with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
It has been alleged that Governor Seyi Makinde instigated the state legislators to impeach his deputy.
It was further alleged that all the legislators who signed the impeachment paper were financially rewarded as it was revealed that they all collected N5m each.
However, the embattled deputy governor has appealed the judgement.
Counsel to the deputy governor, Afolabi Fashanu revealed this saying that the judgement has been appealed at the Court of Appeal, Ibadan.
