The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the Federal Government’s reduction of pump price of petrol from N125 to N123.50 per litre, saying that fuel price in Nigeria should not exceed N90.
The party stated that it was callous for the government of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Nigeria not to have reduced the pump price of petrol to N90, adding that it was disgusting that the incumbent government was fraudulent and it was not transparent.
According to a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbodiyan, “Our party describes the reduction of pump price N1.50k as offensive, fraudulent, a further display of cruelty and insensitivity of All Progressive Congress (APC) to the plight of Nigerians, particularly as the nation battles the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The PDP insist that the correct price of pump price fuel is between N80 to N90 per litre given the slump in the price of fuel and crude oil in the international market. The PDP holds that any price beyond that is completely unacceptable, as it amounts to fleecing Nigerians”.
The statement however charged the federal government to immediately reduce the pump price to the appropriate price of N90 per litre.
