Men of the Kogi State Police Command have arrested a young man in his twenties for kidnapping and murdering a young lady around his age.
The suspect identified as Jeremiah Paul, an indigene of Kaduna State met the victim, Damilola Abigail, around the gas station in Felele Area and lulled her to an uncompleted building in an isolated place where he killed her.
Until her untimely death, Damilola was a 100-level student at the Federal University Lokoja studying Biology.
He claimed that he did not have the intention to kill her but to kidnap her for ransom. The report revealed that Jeremiah killed the victim after collecting N400,000 ransom from her parents.
After killing her, the suspect contacted her family again, demanding an additional N10 million.
According to the suspect during interrogation, he would not have killed her if she did not attempt to escape.
He said, “I kidnapped her. I didn’t remove anything from her. I strangled her to death. She had already seen my face and I didn’t want her to escape. I kidnapped her. She was trying to escape. She had seen my face. I carried her from the gas station side. I kidnapped her on her way home. I live in Felele. I killed her around 9 pm.”
However, inspecting the corpse, it was found out that the suspect had removed the vital organs of the deceased including the tongue, vagina, the heart, womb, and ass.
A rope he used to kill her was found.
