The Nigerian police force has arrested DCP Abba Kyari and four others, who is wanted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) over his involvement in drug trafficking.
The arrest Kyari, who has been suspended as the Head of the Intelligence Response Team following his indictment in money laundering.
The suspended police chief was arrested hours after National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) declared him wanted over alleged drug links.
The suspended DCP is also under investigation after the Federal Bureau of Investigation of the United States of America indicted him in the case of fraud involving Instagram celebrity, Ramon Abbas, aka Hushpuppi.
It was confirmed that he was arrested and handcuffed like any other suspect.
CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officers, has also confirmed his arrest.
However, NDLEA has confirmed that the Police Force has handed Kyari and other four to it.
The Anti-narcotic Agency stated that Kyari, ACP Sunday J. Ubua, ASP Bawa James, Inspector Simon Agirgba and Inspector John Nuhu, were driven into the National Headquarters of NDLEA in Abuja at about 5pm today to formally hand them over for interrogation and further investigation.
“The Agency wishes to assure that no stone will be left unturned to ensure that all suspects already in custody and those that may still be indicted in the course of investigation will face the full weight of the law at the end of the ongoing probe”, the Agency stated.
