The police authority has revealed that it has identified some policemen attached to zone 2, Lagos, who were allegedly attempting to extort a private car owner in Lagos State.
The policemen, whose video of their criminal activities was uploaded on an X page were seen stopping the driver of a private car and demanded for a tinted permit, which police authority has ordered its men to stop demanding from cars’ owners for about two years.
The policemen, who were not in uniform and had no police identity cards, used their white vehicle to block the car of their victim to extort him.
The unidentified private car owner refused to allow them to have access to his car, told them that they were on an illegal operation and also accused them of being kidnappers.
He said, “It is factory tinted car and I can’t remember the last time police asked for the permit of tinted permit that was cancelled two years ago.”
When the policemen realised that the situation might get out of hand, they left the man and drove off in their car.
Speaking on the incident, the Force Public Relations Officer, Oluwamuyiwa Adejobi said, “These policemen have been traced to zone 2 and identified. The AIG zone 2 Lagos is investigating. While the PPRO zone 2, Lagos will speak to it as soon as possible. Thanks and happy Sunday.”
