Tragedy struck in Nasarawa in the early hours of Thursday, February 6, 2025, as a violent altercation between two students of the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa (FPN) ended in bloodshed.
According to a report lodged at the Nasarawa Division at about 0200hrs by Mercy Bassey, a resident behind ECWA Peace College, Shagari Road, a fight had erupted between a tenant and his friend at a nearby lodge.

Responding swiftly, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, dispatched a team of detectives to the scene.
Upon arrival, officers discovered Ibrahim Matthew, a part-time ND2 Computer Science student of FPN, lying in a pool of blood with severe injuries.
He was immediately rushed to General Hospital Nasarawa, where he was confirmed dead. His body was later deposited in the morgue for a post-mortem examination.
Following a prompt investigation, the police apprehended the suspect, identified as John Gambo, an ND2 student in the Banking and Finance Department of the same institution.
During interrogation, Gambo confessed to attacking Ibrahim with both an axe and a knife, weapons that were recovered at the scene.
In light of the gruesome murder, CP Mohammed has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a comprehensive investigation and subsequent prosecution.
The incident has left the campus community in shock as authorities intensify efforts to ensure justice is served.
