Please turn your bible with me to Psalm 62:11; power belongeth unto God; unlimited power; power over individuals; power over cities; power over nations and power over the whole world. And that is the title of this message – Power Belongeth Unto God… the true God of heaven and the God of Apostolic Faith.
No matter what men may say or think, power belongeth unto God. My prayer this morning is that God will destroy the mystery of iniquity in your life and that you may embrace the truth; the truth of the power of God and of Christ.
The bible tells us in Acts 4:12..the power of God is unlimted. God is the Creator of the universe as the bible tells us in Genesis 1:1; God is the Creator; God is the Maker of heaven and earth and unfortunately, man is trying to find a substitute but God remains the Creator and God also made you and me.
The bible tells us in Psalm 100:3 and we are His people and sheep of His pasture. If that is the case, verse 4 tells us to enter His courts with thanksgiving and praise. If you have not known how to acknowledge God, you have not known how to thank Him, you have not known how to praise Him, may God open your inner spiritual eyes today. It is God that has made the world through His power.
In Jeremiah 32:17..; in Isaiah 40:18, 25..our God is great. Fortunately, we are serving a great God, the Great God, the Mighty God of heaven. Let’s see Job 9: 4, 6-7, 10…our God is mighty. Let us see Isaiah 40: 12..the Mighty God has the whole world in the hollow of His hands. Here, He’s measuring the waters in God’s hands.
There are mighty oceans and there are also the seas. There is the Pacific ocean, over 62 million square miles in area and the average depth is 2.88 miles; there is a place where Pacific is set to be 7 miles; the Atlantic is 2.44 miles deep but the deepest area is 3.5 miles and the bible is telling us that God has everything in the hollow of His hands; what a mighty God we serve. May we not forsake this God and may this God not forsake us. Glory be to God.
Our God is greater than the nations and He has an everlasting kingdom.. let’s see Psalm 145: 13. We can see that when you look at the history of the world, many empires have collapsed, many of them can no longer be remembered. Glory be to our Mighty God.
He hath said that I am God, that is My name, My glory will I give to no other nor My praise to graven images. Isaiah 42:8 ..what is the summary of what we are saying? Job 33:12 – God is greater than man. The Mighty God wants to be loved, wants to be appreciated, wants to be worshipped, wants to be acknowledged by His creatures. Why? So His blessings can overflow and flow to everyone.
When we acquaint ourselves with this God to whom belongs all power, we have everything to gain. Job 22:21 but unfortunately, man’s characteristic pride refuses to give God the glory due to Him; even man wants to replace God either with his own idea or the God of his own creation.
Why is that? Because he doesn’t to want to have any feeling of accountability; because if man acknowledges God as God, he would now realise that he has to be accountable to Him; so rather than acknowledge God as God sometimes man prefers to be a fool and we have that in Psalm 14:1 and because he doesn’t want to feel accountable see what follows..done abominable.. may we not be fools; may you not be a fool because only a fool will say there is no God.
When we acknowledge God as God, we have everything to gain. Whoever that does not acknowledge God as God is a loser because without God, man is hopeless and helpless.
God can do without man; it’s man that cannot do without God.
Man can only reject God at his own peril and we have that in Romans 8: 36. Man’s pride often prise to provoke God’s anger. God can give man a long rope. Let’s see Romans 1: 18-21..things that are inconvenient, things that are insensible, behaving in a way that is even worse than in animals.
Look at the world today – homosexualism, lesbianism, beastialism….as a matter of fact many are worse than animals just to provoke God; provoke Him to wrath. May God have mercy.
The sense of reasoning is befuddled; you know in America; somebody said my son celebrated 18th birthday and my gift to him is a condom and she was saying that very proudly; condom to son of 18 as a birthday gift. May God have mercy.
We are praying that if up to now you belong to those with reprobate minds, you’ll make up your mind today to acknowledge God as God and turn unto God and serve Him acceptably.
God to whom belongeth power is not a God to dare or provoke. We read in Job 9: 4 ; Pharaoh hardened his heart – read Exodus 5: 1-2..when the message of God was delivered to Pharaoh to allow the Hebrews to go, he said who is that God, I don’t know that God neither would I allow the children of Israel to go. God gave him a long rope but, in the end,, you know the story. Who won?
Our Mighty God will never lose a battle and He’s always the winner. He has never created somebody He cannot subdue; you’ll need to listen to Nebuchadnezzar’s testimony; Sennacherib was telling Hezekiah and his people in Judah as he comparing the Mighty God with the god of other nations; that the God of Hezekiah could not deliver his people but God proved him wrong. We read that in 2 Kings 18: 35; Daniel 3: 15 he was telling the 3 Hebrew children, who is that God that will deliver you out of my hand?
But after God had dealt with him, listen to his testimony in Daniel 4: 37..glory be to our God. King Herod spoke in Acts 12: 24 and he claimed the glory due to God. They said it was the voice of god and not of men and instantly he was struck dead and worms ate him up. Our God is great and to him belongeth all power.
Even in our contemporary world, God is still proving His might. Maybe you have heard about the Titanic, the biggest ocean liner at that time. It was built by one Thomas Andrews and then pressmen came to him and were asking how safe is this ship? You know what he said? He said, even God cannot sink it and the Titanic started its first voyage from Southampton in England on April 10 1912. Four days later, April 14 1912, the Titanic hit an iceberg and within three hours it sank. There were 2200 passengers; 1500 including Thomas Andrews, the builder of Titanic sank with the ship. Only 700 were safe. May we not dare God; may we not provoke Him to anger.
There were some young girls in America who were going on a journey and were drunk. The mother of one of them who wasn’t happy that her daughter was going when they were drunk told the daughter – may God go with you. You know what they said? They said the car was full, no more space unless God can sit in the trunk, that is, in the boot and they left. Not long into the journey, there was an accident and they all perished but the boot was intact; even none of the eggs in the boot cracked. May we not dare God; may we not annoy Him.
Now we are witnessing covid19 – corona virus, the world has provoked God long enough and I pray once again if you are listening to this message and you have not given your life to Christ, may you make up your mind right now to repent, forsake your sins and give your life to Christ.
Maybe you have been taking advantage of God’s patience and long suffering and because judgement has not come, you believe it will not come. The bible says in Ecclesiastes 8: 11 but the bible tells us in 2 Peter 3:9 ..may you come to repentance today. Because judgement has not come does not mean judgement will not come and the bible says God’s judgement are righteous altogether in Psalm 19:9.
God has been patient but now God is talking and God is speaking the only language that the world can understand. Before now, there was no time for God but they have armed race, the superpower, acquiring power here and there…. where are the weapons in the armoury now? Why can they not shoot corona virus? Power belongeth unto God.
God is the only superpower and right now God has brought America into subjection, sometimes they say America is the leading power. Where is America now – under the judgement of God and American president declared March 15 as the national day of prayer. Now the world is coming to understand God and by the grace of God the gospel of Jesus Christ will make gains from the prevailing situation.
A young man asked a business correspondent in China and when he wants to buy, he will arrange the purchase, she’ll buy and ship to him. The brother was trying to persuade her to give her life to Christ telling her on phone and sending messages to her and then corona virus came. He said he kept on phoning, no answer, messages and no reply; messages of prayer. After a long time, he got a reply from her, a very sure reply and the reply was Amen.
This brother was surprised as somebody who had said that Christ is for you in Africa; in China here the government is our God and after government is buddha but you in Africa, Jesus is for you. The brother said what do you mean by Amen? She replied that there is God; there is a God who protected her and her family; they ran away from their home but they are trying to go back to their house ….there is God.
Do you know that corona virus is one of the signs of the end and there will be something worse than the corona virus? We are appealing to you right now to make up your mind to escape for your life. We read Psalm 62:11-12..power belongeth unto God, mercy belongeth unto God. Now we deserve the judgement of God but we are praying at this time that God may show mercy because mercy also belongeth to God.
Let’s face it- we appreciate the health service deliverance who are taking care of the casualties. They are doing a self sacrificing job and a risky job and we are praying for them. We also appreciate government who has put in place containment strategies but despite all this casualties are increasing by leaps and bounds. What does that tells us?
This indicates that the mercy and help of God are needed to stop the pandemic as only God can stop it. Let’s see 2 Samuel 24: 15-16…that was the end of that pestilence; we are looking unto God. We are looking unto God to put an end to corona virus. We will pray and God will answer for God is looking for men and women who will team up with his children to pray down the power of God.
Would you come and give your life to Christ and join that band? The band of people that will call on God and God will stop corona virus? we know we will pray and God will answer.
We want to read Joel 2: 12-18..may God have mercy on Nigeria. You know the president of Ghana gathered all the nation, I believe to their national stadium and led in prayers to God and he was quoting the promises of God and the whole national president in the course of the prayers burst into tears and the nation joined him in shedding tears; tears of repentance and I believe that God will answer that prayer. I believe that God will answer that prayer, even though we have not done it in Nigeria but your prayer and my prayer and the prayer of the saints God will answer and deliver Nigeria. Come and join the band.
Joel 2: 13…I think we can stop there as our God whom belongeth all power; He’s also the God who belongeth mercy. As individuals this morning, we want to plead the mercy of God but if you are not yet saved, we need to make up our mind as God hath spoken…may God give us listening ears.
As a result of corona virus, may the way of repentance flow in Nigeria in answer to the prayer of the saints at every local level, national level, continental level and global level and I believe God will answer. I believe God will answer and very soon, very soon our hope will come into fruition and our prayer into praise. Let us go to God and pray as we sing hymn 195….
