Electoral Commission of Ghana on Wednesday December 9, 2020 declared the incumbent President of the country, Nana Akufo-Addo, winner of the 2020 Presidential election held on Monday December 7, 2020.
According to the Commission, the 76 year old Akufo-Addo from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) beats his opponent, the former Ghanaian President, John Mahama from National Democratic Congress (NDC) with 51.59 per cent of vote, to earn a second term in office.
The breakdown of the result shows that Akufo-Addo scored 6,730,413 votes to beat Mahama, who scored 6,214,889 votes representing 47.36 per cent.
According to reports from Ghana, over 13,434,574 million electorates representing 79 per cent of the total registered voters out of 17,027,641 million voted across 38,000 polling stations throughout the country.
