Pupils of Sunshine Nursery and Primary School, Ile-Ife, Osun State today stage a protest in solidarity with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), condemning the federal government for refusing to accede to the demands of the public universities’ teachers.
The students urged the government to do the needful for ASUU so that they can call off the strike embarked upon for the past five months.
The pupils were seen carrying placards with different inscriptions; “I am the future ASUU, don’t forget”, “When you stand with ASUU, you stand with us”, “ASUU will survive”, “Don’t borrow our future” and “I am the future ASUU, make no mistake about it”.
The pupils stated that one of the things that can make Nigeria a better place is for the government to properly fund education.
It would be recalled that ASUU has been on strike for over five months over the refusal of the federal government to honour the 2009 FGN-ASUU Agreement.
