Despite the non-support of the elites and political class as well as the frustration of the Federal Government, the agitation for the creation of the Oduduwa Nation for the people of South West and some interested people from Delta, Edo, Kwara and Kogi States has continued to increase, with the agitators defying security order to storm Osogbo, capital of Osun State.
The men of the Nigeria Police, Directorate of State Security Service (DSS) and military have warned the agitators against their request, stressing that law and security strength would be used against them if they refuse to stop the call for Yoruba nation.
According to the information gathered, men of the Nigerian Police and DSS had barricaded Nelson Mandela Freedom Park in Osogbo, the venue for the rally organized by the Pro-Yoruba to carry out an enlightenment rally for the necessity to create Oduduwa Nation.
However, the armed security men of the Federal Government had to leave the venue on sighting the huge supporters of the Yoruba nation peacefully singing pro-Yoruba songs and anti-Nigeria songs without a dint of fear.
The crowd, led by the Secretary General of Ilana Omo Oodua (IOO), Arc. George Akinola, Head of IOO Youth Development, Dr. Akin Adejuwon and other agitators, expressly declared that the actualisation of Yoruba Nation is an idea which its time has come, affirming that their rights to self-determination is “Inalienable”.
The pro-Yoruba protesters, clad in White and blue t-shirts of the Oduduwa nation’s flag were armed with posters, and banners of different sizes with different inscriptions, calling for the immediate creation of Yoruba nation.
They called on the electorate to boycott the 2023 election as well as calling on members of the National Assembly from the South West to immediately resign their appointments and come home to join the struggle.
They called on the United Nations and notable international community to support the actualization of the creation of Oduduwa Nation.
