The Pioneer Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research, Innovation and Strategy Partnerships), of the University of Ibadan, Professor Olanike K. Adeyemo, has completed her four year tenure on March 12, 2021.
Adeyemo, who is also the Chairperson, Oyo State Covid-19 Decontamination And Containment Committee, came into office for the first two year term on March 12, 2017.
The former DVC, who could not hide her joy for a successful tenure in Office, returned all praises to God for the enablement. She said in a post:
“I completed my 4-year tenure today, 12th March 2021, as the Pioneer Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research, Innovation and Strategic Partnerships), University of Ibadan. How do I feel today? At peace! I gave it my best shot from day one to the last!
“I am totally grateful to God from whom ALL blessings flow for His Grace and enablement. I thank the immediate past Vice Chancellor, Professor Abel Idowu Olayinka for the honour of nominating me for the opportunity to be of service to my dear University.
“The report on my Stewardship is 140-page document which details 69 key activities and 32 partnerships on staff, student, Strategic Partnerships/Linkages, Internationalization, Innovation, Governance and Policy, Quality Assurance and Strategic Planning, Activities in the Pipeline, Limitations and recommended focus going forward.
“I thank my colleagues, both academic and non-academic, friends, family brethren, men, and women of goodwill for all their assistance in this role. I particularly thank my lieutenants, Messers Adeogun and Francis Adeleke Agoye, my secretary, Ms Ann Ichite, driver, Julius Babatunde and other highly valued staff of the Office of (DVC-RISP) for their passion in pushing all of our programmes and activities (sometimes I wonder if I was paying them extra salaries in my sleep).
“Finally, I appreciate my husband, children and Mummy and thank them for their support, prayers and many sacrifices.
“Not to me Lord! not to me! But to Your Name be Glory because of your Faithfulness and Love”.
In a congratulatory message by the Institution’s Management, Adeyemo was lauded for being an “an exemplary leader who consistently champions what is best for students and the University at large, in research and scholarship”.
“The amount of work you have put into achieving your goal has been impressive, and we commend you on your enormous success. Some people have the gift of brightening the days of others and it is evident that you did this often; making others around you feel valued. You are leaving a wonderful legacy in administration and your outstanding leadership will be missed” the message continued.
Adeyemo, a Professor of Veterinary Public Health and Preventive Medicine of the Premier University, is a woman of many Firsts. These include her pioneering role as the first female in the field of Aquatic Veterinary Medicine in Nigeria and being the first person and first female to be appointed the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research Innovation, and Strategic Partnerships) of the Institution.
She is happily married to Abiodun, a Pharmacist, and the union is blessed with 3 boys and a girl.
