The 13th Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof Kayode Adebowale, on Monday February 7, 2022 reiterated the determination of his administration to reposition the teaching and learning processes at the nation’s Premier University to enhance its global ranking, stressing that the library system, research activities and municipal services would also be improved.
Adebowale, who noted this at the opening of a 3- day Management Retreat themed “Towards a Global First Rate University, Harnessing Strengths and Opportunities”, pointed it out that he could not do it alone.
He solicited the cooperation and assistance of all stakeholders to attain and maintain high global ranking and enhance the international outlook of the University.
Adebowale, in his presentation titled, “Hands of a Thousand Rafters…” revealed that he had identified 19 action plans to assist him in his quest to sustain the University as a global leader.
The immediate past Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Abel Idowu Olayinka, said that the retreat was timely, adding that Together Each Achieve More (TEAM).
In his keynote address, a former Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Olufemi Bamiro, said that everyone has to contribute to the continued existence and progress of the University.
Bamiro, who advised the incumbent VC to use data effectively, manage changes and make a deliberate policy to ensure that people work together, stated that universities needed to look beyond the government to make a difference, stressing on the Triple Helix of Government- Industry- Academia to sustain the university system.
