The Governing Council of the Oyo State owned First Technical University, Ibadan, today approved and appointed the institution’s Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Adesola Ajayi, as the second Vice-Chancellor of the university.
According to a statement signed by the institution’s Protem Chairperson, Professor Olanike Adeyemo, Ajayi would succeed the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Ayobami Salami.
Adeyemo stated that the appointment of Ajayi followed the Council’s consideration of the recommendation of the Joint Council and Senate Selection Board.
Pointing out that the appointment for a single term of five years, she noted that it would take effect from 9th May, 2022.
Ajayi, who hails from Igbojaye in Itesiwaju Local Government Area of Oyo State, bagged B. Agric. in Plant Science (First Class Honours) with the best overall result in the Faculty of Agriculture, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in 1991, M.Phil. (Plant Science) degree with specialization in Plant Breeding/Seed Production in 1997 and Doctor of Agricultural Science (Dr. sc. agr.) degree in Seed Biology from Christian Albrecht University, Kiel, Germany in 2003.
