Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson, has assured the world that the Russian President, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, will fail in the aggressive and devastating war his government declared on Ukraine.
Since February 20, 2022, Russian government has launched military attack on Ukraine, Russian military personnel have brutally killed Ukrainians in hundreds, destroyed major Ukrainian cities and has continued to heavily wreck havoc in the country.
As at the time of filing this report, apart from series of sanctions imposed on Russia and donations of war equipment to Ukraine, the western world is yet to draft its military men to assist the vulnerable Ukrainians, who are being mercilessly killed and their nation being destroyed.
In a video clip on Johnson verified twitter page account, the UK Prime Minister said, “Putin must fail. His war of aggression, his war of choice against Ukraine is something that is bringing devastation to wholly innocent country. He is bombarding civilians. He is attacking tower blocks with missiles, and it is absolutely unconscionable that democracy in Ukraine should be stamped out in this way.
“That is why the UK has been working with our friends and partners to impose the toughest possible package of economic sanctions already, the world has barely seen like it before, and it is a huge impact on the Russian economy. As I speak, the ruble has tanked, you have seen people queuing to take out their money, they are reluctant to open the Russian stock market. They have taken a bit hit already, but we will go further and we will continue to support our Ukrainian friends with logistics, with lethal defensive military support for as long as it takes and we are here for the long haul.
“I think that Vladimir Putin has made a huge miscalculations. He’s underestimated the willingness and the strength of the Ukrainians to resist. He’s underestimated President Zelenskyy of Ukraine, and he’s also underestimated western resolve and western unity, and we stand together to ensure that Putin must fail.”
