Ahead of Nigeria’s 60th Anniversary holding on Thursday October 1, 2020, Elizabeth II, Queen of the United Kingdom has congratulated the Nigerian Government and its people.
According to the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Femi Adesina, the Queen had sent a congratulatory message to President Muhammadu Buhari to identify with the country as it marks its 60th anniversary.
Adesina said, “Queen of England in letter to PMB greets Nigeria at 60: “It gives me great pleasure to offer my warmest congratulations on the 60th anniversary of Nigeria’s Independence, together with my best wishes for your country’s continued happiness & prosperity”.
However, the Presidency has revealed that “As part of activities commemorating the 60th Independence Anniversary of the country, President Buhari would address the nation tomorrow from the Eagle Square, Abuja”.
In a statement from Shehu Garba, one of the spokespersons to the president, “The live address will commence after the Anniversary Parade beginning at 10am which will be covered by major television and radio stations especially the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN)”.
Garba added that the traditional early morning October 1 Presidential Broadcast would not feature tomorrow.
