A Nigerian playwright and Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, has reiterated the importance of reading, saying that reading is one of the characteristics that differentiate human beings from animals.
Responding to a question in a video, “Why Reading is very Important?”, the literary giant said, “Without reading, one is not complete as a human being.”
According to him, reading a book in a day keeps the devil away”, stressing that individual, who does not read will just be a ruminant animal in the field.
Pointing out, “I enjoy browsing, going to bookshop, looking for what is latest, that way, enlarging my own personal horizon stressing, “Reading opens the horizon.”
