The Looja Odo-Iju in Osun State, His Royal Highness (HRM), Oba Engineer Adedoyin Adelekun, has urged the Rotary Club International not to deviate from its commitment to sustain and maintain its global standard towards providing humanitarian aid to the communities in Nigeria through the community leaders.
Oba Adelekun, who gave this charge at a sensitisation workshop tagged, “Image-ING Rotary” Projects and Press conference, held at the Rotary Club House, Iyaganku, Ibadan, pointed out that the Rotary humanitarian aid should always be directed at improving the living standard of the people.
He observed that since the inception of the Rotary Club in Nigeria in 1961, the club as a non-profit organization has helped people to integrate their visions and goals in solving societal challenges.
The monarch, who is also the special Guest of honour, admonished members of the Rotary Club to work harder to ensure that members of the public are educated, enlightened and informed about the club by carrying out public awareness and sensitisation for them to join Club.
Earlier, the Public Image Chairman and a member of the organizing committee, Rotarian Michael Ajao said that this year’s event was organised to showcase the Rotary Club’s projects in Oyo state and how they have been positively touching the lives of less the privileged in the communities.
He added that the members of the Club would keep uplifting the aims and objectives of the Rotary Club to better the lives of people and provide service to others, promote integrity and advance world understanding, goodwill and peace through the club fellowship business, professionals and community leaders.
The Club showcased some of the projects executed which includes medical outreach, donation of relief materials, empowerment of women, providing school kits for students of primary schools pupils and secondary schools students, scholarships, assistance and supports people with disability, sinking of boreholes and payment of hospitals bills for pregnant women, among others.
