The Nigeria Police Authority has responded to the recent clash between Yoruba and Hausa ethnic groups at Sasa Area of Ibadan, capital of Oyo, where some Hausa men killed at least three Yoruba people, burnt their houses and shops as well as their property worth millions of naira.
In other to ensure that peace return to the area, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, has ordered the immediate deployment of Police Intervention and Stabilization Forces to Oyo State.
According to a statement from the Force Headquarters, DIG in charge of South-West, David Folawiyo, will coordinate the special Operations.
The IGP assured that the Force is committed to the safety of lives and properties of the citizens in the country.
He called on the citizens and residents of Oyo State and other Nigerians to embrace peace and cooperate with the Police and the security community as they redouble their efforts in ensuring that sustainable peace and security are restored to the affected areas.
