The killer of five-year-old Hanifa Abubakar, pupil of Noble Kids Nursery and Primary School, Kawana, Kano State, Abdulmalik Tanko, has appealed to her parents to forgive him.
Tanko, who is the proprietor of the school, spoke to newsmen when he was paraded by the Kano State Police Command. He said that it was his first time taking a life and he knows he has hurt Hanifa’s parent being a father of two daughters himself.
He said, ” I seriously have regrets, even the moment this girl is dying, I was in shock… First thing I want now, I want to plead with those parents. I just want to plead to them. Honestly, I am so sorry about what I did to them. I am very very sorry.
“I have killed their daughter so I am very sorry. This is a life and a life is very precious.”
On the ransom, Tanko revealed that he asked for N6 million knowing that the family will negotiate.
He also said that the family made payment of N100,000 out of which he claimed he used N71,000 to pay the staff of his school.
The proprietor noted that his actions were not ritual based but strictly out of desperation for money as the landlord of his school which was in a rented space was on his neck for rent.
He also revealed that he choose to bury the girl at the school premises as it was the only secured place he could find to conceal the body.
He added that he knows the law of kidnapping in Kano State and he completely throws his fate at the mercy of the law and court.
