Suspected armed bandits, on Thursday, October 29, 2020, attacked Gidan Goga community in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State, leaving several people dead.
According to information gathered, armed men arrived at the community on motorbikes firing at residents before they herded away cows and other domestic animals.
Also, in Diskiru village in Dandume Local Council of Katsina State, several people, mainly children and the elderly, were killed in an early morning attack.
The police spokesperson in the state, SP Gambo Isah, said 17 lives were lost, including 12 locals, four vigilantes and a security agent, adding that scores of bandits were neutralised by military fighter jets.
He added that a substantial number of the assailants met their waterloo in neighbouring Faskari council area where they were ambushed by men of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).
It was also gathered that several inhabitants, comprising married women and young girls, were kidnapped by the armed bandits and several houses were set ablaze.
