A veteran Artiste, Chief Deji Aderemi, popularly known as Olofa-Ina, today made a huge revelation about women in theatre industry, claiming that hardly could any top ranking Nigerian actresses be excluded from sexual immorality.
Olofa-Ina made this revelation to the newsmen today at the premises of high court in Lagos, when expressing disgust over the rape saga of Olarenwaju Omiyinka alias Baba Ijesa, who is being prosecuted for allegedly raping a 14 year old girl.
The prosecution is being championed by Damilola Adekoya, popularly known as Princess and Iyabo Ojo
Olofa-Ina, who spoke in Yoruba Language said, “Can Iyabo Ojo claim that men in the industry did not have sex with her while growing in the industry. We know those who were sleeping with her. Having sex with our female colleagues is normal and there is nothing new about it. Sex is part of the movie or film industry. Virtually all female actresses are being slept with so why would Iyabo Ojo make that of Baba Ijesa a big issue”.
Why asked of his mission in court today, he said that he was in court to give solidarity support to Baba Ijesa as well as wanting to find out if court still dispenses justice in Nigeria.
His words, “I am in court because of Yinka Omidina, alias Baba Ijesa, who they claim that he had sex with a teenager. Sex is nothing in entertainment industry. Sex connects actors and actresses together. Sex is part of connect all male and female artistes together. It is not a big deal to us. There is no big actress in Nigeria that will claim that her male counterpart is not sleeping with. None. In the industry, I am so sure of this. If Baba Ijesa has offended them before and they want to punish him, they should let us know”.
Shedding tears, he continued, “Why did Iyabo Ojo and others turn Baba Ijesa to a prisoner? And they had one time or the other been very close and helped one another. I have never heard it that an actress with sue her male colleague to court because of mere sex. When I heard of the case, I called Iyabo Ojo, she was very rude to me and even cut her phone on me. I begged Iyabo Ojo over this matter, Iya Rainbow, Igwe, Ajala and others begged her but refused to listen to us”.
