Magistrate I. O Abudu siting in Abeoukta, Capital of Ogun State has ordered that the four teenagers, who murdered Sofiat Okeowo for money ritual be remanded at Oba Prison Custody, pending legal advice from Ogun State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The Magistrate, who adjourned the case until March 14 for mention did not take the plea of the defendants.
The four teenagers, who were arraigned on a two count charge of murder and conspiracy are Balogun Mustakeem, Majekodunmi Soliudeen, Abdulgafa Lukman, and Waris Oladeinde.
However, the prime suspects Mustakeem and Soliudeen, when being paraded by the Ogun State Police Command exonerated Soliudeen and Abdulgarfar from the crime, saying that they were not involved in the murder of Sofiat.
All the suspects were arrested on Saturday January 29, 2022, for allegedly slaughtering and burning the head of the victim, identified as a girlfriend to one of them, for money rituals.
According to the Prosecutor, Lawrence Balogun, while addressing the court, the defendants committed the offence on January 28 at about 11:00pm at Kugba area in Abeokuta.
Balogun stated that the defendants conspired among themselves and murdered one Sofiat Okeowo who is a girl friend to one of the defendants, Soliudeen, stressing that the defendants killed her by cutting off her head with a cutlass.
He pointed out that the defendants murdered the victim with the plan to use her for money ritual, pointing out that the offence they committed contravenes sections 324, 316 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun 2006.
