An unidentified soldier has taken to social media to make a heavy allegation against the Nigerian political leaders, saying that they are the ones sponsoring terrorists and bandits in Nigeria.
The soldier made this allegation while reacting to the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s arrest of a soldier and four others plying one-way with their motorcycles along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
The Ondo State-born soldier in a full military uniform who condemned the arrest of a soldier who violated traffic law said, “These are the people that fight the terrorists and bandits that you and your co-workers are sponsoring.”
The military man who acknowledged that the governor did right by effecting the arrest of the soldier and other traffic law violators holds that the governor should have given the arrested soldier preferential treatment when the man introduced himself as a soldier.
He argued further “You have told that guy, oh! You are an officer, you should know better, okay, don’t do it again.”
The full speech of the unidentified soldier is transcribed and produced before:
“That was Governor Sanwo-Olu, the executive governor of Lagos State. You accosted some okada riders that go through the wrong way. What the okada riders do, is it good? No, It is not good. They are passing the wrong way. And as a governor, what he did was right. But see a serving military officer that introduced himself to you, a Lance corporal, a young soldier, that was sent on an errand and he was unfortunately, he climbed that okada. He was begging you, Mr Governor. He was begging you that I am sorry, Sir. I am a soldier, I am sorry. What do you expect that young guy to say? But because you are an arrogant governor.”
“This same one way you passed two days earlier. You have been passing the wrong ways. You have been passing one way in Lagos State. So, are you above the law now? The Lance corporal you arrested has been shot in Borno. He has an iron in his arm. These are the people that fight the terrorists, the bandits that you and your co-workers are sponsoring.”
“And he is there begging you and you are insulting his father. Go and call your father. I am going to lock you up. A governor? I don’t blame you. Sanwo-Olu, I don’t blame you at all because from the beginning you are tout. We know what your brother did during the election in Lagos Island when he was tormenting the people who followed PDP. We have the video all over. Most of us have served in the UN. Some are in Sambisa Forest, some are in Borno. Christmas day, people were killed in Bokkos, none of you said anything but a soldier that made a mistake by climbing okada and went through the wrong way and he was begging you.”
“Let me cast your mind back, Mr Governor, Fasola was a governor before you. He arrested a colonel, a redneck in the Nigerian army for passing the bus lane. He did it with humility, as a man who is well educated not a touted like you. Everybody deserves a second chance. If you have told that guy, oh! You are an officer, you should know better, okay, don’t do it again. Instead, you said, that is the reason why I am arresting you. See, you are talking like “Amugbo”. Ori e ti daru, ori e. Ori e o ti daru. Iwo nikan lo ma koko se governor ni? Awon touts ti o n lo ni igboro Eko, ti won n da Eko ru, they destroy Lagos, o arrest won. O arrest won rara. Soldier lo n arrest ni o n kapa soke. Kilode? You should be ashamed of yourself, Sanwo-Olu.”
“But let me remind you, your four years will soon finished now. Do whatever you like. Torment people of Lagos State. Where is my own governor today? Where is Akeredolu today? You should be ashamed of yourself. Sanwo-Olu, you should be ashamed of yourself. Nigerian soldiers are all over the world. We are in the UN. We are serving the nation to make the country proud. People are dying in Sambisa Forest, people are dying in Borno, people are dying in Plateau, everywhere, soldiers are being killed.”
“I don’t blame you, at all, a dirty bloody civilian like you. Because you are a chief executive officer of a state, you are above the law yourself? How many times have you gone through the wrong way? How many times have you gone through one way in Lagos? So, you are above the law, right? A young soldier, check him. He has been shot. He has iron in his hand. He was under my command before. He is just a young soldier. … Nobody is afraid of you. You lock him, you will release him. Stupid governor like you, ori e ti daru, Sanwo-Olu, ori e o ti daru. Oju ma tunrari lojo kan, owe Akala. Nibo ni Babangida wa leni, nibo ni gbogbo won wa leni, asiko e n bo. Se won so pe o ti yin lori tele. Ambode ti so tele. Oni opolo re ti daru tele. O ni won ti gbe e lo si Bariga General Hospital. O de ti wa show e pe opolo e ko pe, ori e ko pe rara. Stupid idiot, I don’t have time for you.”
