Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, snubbed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State at the 2020 Leadership Group Limited’s Annual Conference and Award, held on Thursday September 9, 2021, at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.
The theme of the conference is “The Role of Political and Non-Political Actors in Stabilisation and Consensus Building”.
The Sultan, who was seen exchanging pleasantries and handshakes with dignitaries at the event, refused to have an handshake with Sanwo-Olu.
He was also seen not verbally responding to the governor, who was trying to chat him up.
However, the Monarch could not shy away from his official responsibility at the event as he presented Leadership Award to the governor.
Sanwo-Olu received Leadership’s prize for Governor of the Year for successfully managing and turning around what could have been a tragic episode for the nation, following the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country last year.
