Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, a foremost Yoruba nation agitator, who was recently granted freedom by the government of the Republic of Benin from its protective custody has released a long list of the Yoruba traditional rulers who stood by him during his travail, without recognising some foremost Yoruba monarchs including the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ọjájá II).
He also appreciated the religious leaders and Nigerians in the diaspora for standing for the cause of Yoruba, calling the sons and daughters of Yoruba to keep the struggle for freedom of Yoruba in Nigeria.
In a statement read on Facebook, Adeyemo said, “My sincere appreciation goes to God Almighty, the master of the universe for making this day. I want to say a big thanks to all the Yoruba sons and daughters for the love and support before and after the loss of my dear mother. Though she is still kept in the morgue waiting for me to come and give her a befitting burial that she deserves.”
“Our royal fathers, Obas, and chiefs in Yoruba land, your love and support is so appreciated but we need more of your support to deliver our land from the slavery of the Fulanis because Yoruba land is ours. Although I have many obas on my list, I will mention a few: His Majesty, the Olugbon of Orile Igbon, and the Vice Chairman of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, Oba Francis Olusola Alao, Oni Bariga of Bariga, Oba Gbolahan Timson, Olu of Orile Kemta, Oba Adetokunbo Tejuoso, and Olugbo of Ugbo, Oba Fredrick Obateru Akinruntan, your love and support is well appreciated”, he added.
Other eminent Yorubas the Yoruba Nation agitator appreciated include Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, former president of Nigeria, Professor Banji Akintoye, Professor Wole Soyinka, Ayo Adebanjo, and Dele Momodu, the publisher of Ovation Magazine.
In his reaction, Dele Momodu wrote on his X page, “My special thanks to OLOYE SUNDAY IGBOHO ADEYEMO for appreciating my modest support during his travails in Cotonou, Benin Republic… The full story is for another day… Congratulations on your freedom… It now remains MAZI NNAMDI KANU since the courts have ruled in his favour!”
At the time of filing this report, Sunday Igboho is in Germany.
