Security operatives have invaded the Maitama home of Mary Odili, a justice of the Supreme Court, in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
According to reports, armed men arrived at her Abuja apartment Friday evening and promptly attempted to break-in.
Justice Odili vehemently fought their search on her home, claiming she had no business with them.
It was gathered that they left after about an hour.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has already issued a statement denying that its agents were responsible for the siege.
“The attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has been drawn to claims in a section of the media that operatives of the Commission today, October 29, 2021 stormed the Maitama, Abuja home of a Judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Mary Odili, purportedly to execute a search.
“The Commission by this statement wishes to inform the public that the report is false as it did not carry out any operation at the home of Justice Odili,” it read.
The operation may not be unconnected to Peter Odili, former Governor of Rivers state and husband to the Supreme Court judge, who has been facing corruption charges raised by the anti-graft agency.
As at the time of filing this report, Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers state, has arrived at the home of Justice Odili in company of Chief Chris Uche, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), and his younger brother, Gordy Uche (SAN).
Abiye Sekibo, former minister of transportation; Raymond Dokpesi, founder of DAAR communications; Austin Okpara, former deputy speaker of the house of representatives; Okon Aniete and Lee Maeba, a former senator, are among those also present at Odili’s residence.
