Residents of Akobo Area of Ibadan, capital of Oyo State have raised alarm over invasion of suspected gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen in the area.
According to information gathered, some estates in the area were stormed by the men numbering about15 on motorcycles but were repelled by local security men in the area.
A security man, who spoke about the incident under anonymity said that the suspected Fulani men attacked local security men in Elewuro Area, adding that the incident has been reported in Akobo Police Station.
He said, “The incident happened around 9pm. Some Fulani men numbering about 15 wanted to enter into some estates but they were not allowed in by the security men. They attacked the security men and wounded them. The security men have been taken to an hospital in the area for treatment”.
Some residents who spoke with our correspondents lamented the level of insecurity being experience in the state, calling on Governor Seyi Makinde and the security operatives, particularly, men of the Nigerian Army in the 2nd Mechanise Div., Odogbo very close to the area to be at alert and be ready to protect them whenever needs arise.
