South West Group of Online Publisher (SWEGOP) has commended the Governors of Oyo and Osun States, Engr. Seyi Makinde and Adegboyega Oyetola for deciding to lay to rest the lingering ownership crisis rocking Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso.
The media Group noted that the way the two governors handled the situation reflected the level of cordiality and passion for integration between the states without consideration for ‘ego’ and political affiliations.
In a statement signed by SWEGO’s Chairman and Public Relations Officer (PRO), Olayinka Agboola and Remi Oladoye, SWEGOP also lauded the timely intervention of the Nigerian University Commission (NUC) and other stakeholders.
While congratulating Governor Makinde, the group urged him to see the development as an opportunity to expand the scope of LAUTECH, as well as ensure adequate funding and implementation of policies that would hasten the advancement of the institution.
SWEGOP also urged LAUTECH management and the new owner state to ensure proper accountability and prompt response to the yearnings of the students.
In a similar development, the Association also urged the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to promptly resolve and put an end to the eight-month industrial action of the university lecturers.
