The South-West Guild of Online Publishers (SWEGOP) has elected a new executive council to steer the affairs of the Guild.
The election and swearing-in ceremony took place on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre, Iyaganku, Ibadan.
During the meeting, members unanimously elected Bisi Oladele as Chairman, while Dapo Falade emerged as Vice Chairman.

Other elected executives include Taiwo Oluwadamilare as Secretary and Joseph Okuwofu as Assistant Secretary. Malik Oluwatoyin was chosen as Treasurer, Temi Aboderin as Financial Secretary, and Remi Oladoye as Public Relations Officer (PRO).
The election process, which saw 15 members in attendance, was conducted smoothly, with all candidates receiving unanimous support.
The process was overseen by Tunde Busari, Chairman of the immediate past executive council, who urged the new leadership to uphold the confidence reposed in them and work towards advancing the Guild’s objectives.
In his remarks, the outgoing Chairman, Olayinka Agboola, pledged his continued support for the new leadership.
He assured them that his door remained open for advice and collaboration to ensure SWEGOP’s continued growth and development.
Speaking after his swearing-in, the newly elected Chairman, Bisi Oladele, expressed gratitude to members for their trust in his leadership.
“We fully understand the challenges ahead, but we are committed to steering this association towards greater heights. Our journey began nine years ago with just six members, and today, we have grown significantly. We appreciate the efforts of past executives and look forward to building on their achievements,” he said.
Oladele also commended Olayinka Agboola for his remarkable contributions to the Guild, acknowledging his role in expanding SWEGOP’s membership from six to over 30 and strengthening the association.
As part of his plans, the new Chairman announced the dissolution of the House, signaling the commencement of fresh membership registration alongside the introduction of new rules and regulations for engagement within the Guild.
He called on all members to support the new leadership in moving the association forward, emphasising the importance of collective effort in achieving SWEGOP’s goals.
