President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended heartfelt congratulations to his longtime ally and close friend, former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, as he celebrates his 68th birthday.
In a statement released today, Tinubu commended Professor Osinbajo, who served as Nigeria’s Vice President from 2015 to 2023, for his exemplary service to the nation.
Acknowledging Osinbajo’s distinguished career as a professor of law and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, the President noted how the former Vice President worked harmoniously with President Muhammadu Buhari to deliver impactful governance and execute key infrastructure projects across the country.
Tinubu recalled Osinbajo’s remarkable leadership during a period of national uncertainty when he briefly acted as President while President Buhari was on a medical vacation in the United Kingdom.
The President praised Osinbajo’s leadership, emphasising his competence and commitment to Nigeria during that time.
Describing Osinbajo as a “close ally, friend, and brother,” Tinubu reflected on their longstanding partnership, particularly, during Osinbajo’s tenure as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Lagos State. There, the two worked together on numerous political and judicial reforms, leveraging the power of law to strengthen the state’s governance framework.
Further, Tinubu acknowledged Osinbajo’s democratic decision to contest for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket in 2023, alongside him.
“Professor Osinbajo will always remain my friend and associate. He served our country meritoriously as Vice President to that patriotic leader, President Muhammadu Buhari,” the President remarked.
He added, “He made all of us in the APC proud by working collaboratively and harmoniously with the president without rancour.”
Tinubu concluded by joining Osinbajo’s family—particularly his wife Dolapo, children, friends, and associates—in wishing the former Vice President continued success, good health, and many more years of achievements.
As Osinbajo celebrates this milestone, his contributions to Nigeria’s progress remain an indelible part of the country’s modern history.
