The President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led Federal Government has increased the fees of the two categories of the nation’s international passport to N50,000 and N100,000 respectively.
According to a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, DCI KT Udo, titled, “Federal Government Approves An Upward Review of Nigerian Passport Fees To Ensure Quality And Integrity”, the government stated that the increments have become unavoidable.
The three paragraphs statement reads in parts:
“As part of the efforts to maintain the quality and integrity of the Nigerian Standard Passport, the Federal Government has approved review of the fees for the passport effective from 1st September, 2024.
“Based on the review, 32-page passport with 5 year validity previously charged at thirty five thousand naira (#35,000), will now be fifty thousand Naira only; while 64-page passport booklet with 10 year validity which was seventy thousand naira (#100,000) only. However, the fees remain unchanged in Diaspora.
“While the Nigerian Immigration Service regrets any inconvenience this increase might cause prospective applicants; it assured Nigerians of unwavering commitment to transparency and quality service delivery at all times.”
