Monarchs in Nigeria have continued to condemn the high level in which females, young and adults are being sexually assaulted saying that drastic steps have to be taken to curb this social menace.
Of recent is the Delta Council of Traditional Rulers, who called on the government at all levels to impose stiffer sanction on rapists and other gender -based violators.
According to a communiqué signed by the Chairman of the Group, Dr Emmanuel Efeizomor II, the council condemned, in strongest terms, the alarming rate of sexual abuses in Nigeria, appealing to the government to apply stringent conditions to curb the inhuman behaviour.
The Council equally called on the Judiciary and law enforcement agencies to handle the issue of rape with high sense of justice stressing that anyone caught engaging in the dastardly act be made to face the full wrath of the law.
Regretting the incessant rape and murder cases in the country, the Council urged the victims of rape and sexual harassment to speak out, pointing out that keeping silent would not help them and the nation.
