The Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan (UI) was filled to the brim in the evening of Sunday, July 2, 2023, when the family, friends, colleagues and well wishers gathered to pay tribute to late Prof Opeyemi Isaac Ajewole.
Ajewole, popularly known as ‘Iroko’, was murdered by unknown gunmen at Ibadan on Monday, June 5, 2023.
Speaker upon speaker at the Night of Tributes eulogised the popular lecturer of the Department of Social and Environmental Forestry for being a rallying point and for providing succor to many.
Several of them expressed disappointment that his assailants have not being apprehended till now.
Ajewole is survived by his wife and two children. He will be buried on Tuesday, July 4, 2023.
