Following deportation policy of Donald Trump, the 47th President of the United States of America (USA), 3,690 Nigerians are among 1,445,549 illegal immigrants to be deported to their different countries from US.
Vigorously implementing the deportation order is the ICE, placed in charge of protecting America from cross-border crime and illegal immigration that threaten national security.
In the document compiled by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Enforcement and Removal Operations, titled “Noncitizens on the ICE Non-Detained Docket with Final Orders of Removal by Country of Citizenship”, Mexico and El Salvador top the list of nations facing the most deportation, with 252,044 and 203,822, respectively.
In Africa, Somalia tops the list of the deporting country, while Mauritania and Nigeria came 2nd and 3rd respectively.
At the time of filing this report, ICE is busy arresting the targets from every part of the country including churches, markets, schools, inside buses, offices, on the streets and even inside people’s homes.
The fear of the deportation has gripped the affected individuals, and the majority have gone into hidden, while some are voluntarily leaving US to their different countries.
Trump, on his inauguration day as the 47th President of the US, signed a series of executive orders aimed at hardening immigration policies, including the stoppage of citizenship by birth for children of illegal immigrants.
Trump has signed orders to declare a national emergency at the Mexico-US southern border, stating the deployment of more troops to the area as he threatened to deport “criminal aliens.”
In an on-spot press interview, Trump said that he was pleased with the way the deportation is being carried out adding that the deportation is going on well.
