Liz Truss, the foreign secretary, has emerged as the new Prime Minister in United Kingdom (UK), after polling 81,326 votes representing 57. 4 per cent to beat his rival, Rishi Suna, the ex-Chancellor of the Exchequer (Finance Minister), who polled 60, 399 votes representing 42.6 per cent.
Truss, who will succeed the outgoing Prime Minister, Boris Johnson will be the 3rd female PM in UK contested with ten others, who were gradually reduced to two.
Speaking after declared as the winner of the UK Prime Minister’s contest, Truss said it was an “honour” to be elected after undergoing “one of the longest job interviews in history. I campaigned as a Conservative, and I will govern as a Conservative,” she said, touting Tory values of low taxes and personal responsibility.”
She vowed a “bold plan” to address tax cuts and the energy crisis.
