Two brothers, Eze Okwuchukwu Olisaebuka and Eze Nnadozie Onyeka, who were arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), on Wednesday December 23, 2020, for allegedly stealing N1.5bn from their boss, one Arthur Eze have been granted bail.
The duo, who were Administrative Officer and Finance Manager respectively in Eze’s company, were arraigned alongside their respective companies, Berlus Resources Ltd and DYM Integrated Service Limited. The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the allegations levelled against them.
According to EFCC, Justice Binta Mohammed of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Maitama, Abuja, granted Olisaebuka bail in the sum of N10m and one surety in like sum, who must be a civil servant on Grade Level 14 with copy of last promotion letter submitted and be resident in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Also, Onyeka was admitted to bail in the sum of N20m and two sureties, who must be civil servants of not less than Grade Level 14. The sureties must work and reside in the Federal Capital Territory and must present copies of their last promotion letters for verification.
According to their charge sheets, while Olisaebuka and his company, Berlus Resources Ltd were docked on a 14-count charge, Onyeka and his company, DYM Integrated Service Limited were arraigned on a 17-count charge bordering on theft.
Olisaebuka, who was an administrative officer with Prince Arthur Eze, was alleged to have stolen and converted to personal use the sum of N804,360,216.81 and $3,309,359.08 belonging to Eze.
The offence was stated to be contrary to section 289 of the Penal Code Cap 532 LFN (ABUJA) 1990 and punishable under the same section.
Onyeka and DYM Integrated Resources Ltd was accused of stealing N769,161,690 and $845,700, the offence contrary to section 289 of the Penal Code Cap 532 LFN (ABUJA) 1990 and punishable under the same section.
The case was adjourned till January 26, 2021 for commencement of trial.
