A three-story building that collapsed on Freeman Street, in the Lagos Island area of Lagos State has left two persons dead while nine sustained injuries.
It was gathered that the building collapsed in the early hours of Saturday July 11, 2020 when the occupants were still asleep.
In a statement confirming the incident, the Director-General of the State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, stated that the remains of the dead victims have been transported to the mortuary.
According to him, rescue operations were still ongoing, while the nine injured are being administered pre-hospital care by the agency.
Officials of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LABSCA), Ministry of Physical planning, Nigeria Police among other emergency workers were at the scene of the building collapse.
