Two suspected robbers Moses Akinyede, 48, and Gbenga Sodiq, 35, were today arraigned before Ado Ekiti Chief Magistrate, Olanike Adegoke, for allegedly stealing a Boxer Bajaj motorcycle valued at N245, 000.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the allegation levelled against them.
During the arraignment, the prosecutor, Insp. Johnson Okunade, said that the offence was committed in Ado-Ekiti on August 18, 2020 around 4pm.
The suspects, who are facing one count charge of stealing, were alleged to have stolen a motorcycle, which belong to Folake Awogbami.
The offence, according to the prosecutor contravened Section 383 and it is punishable under Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
Okunade prayed the court for adjournment so as to enable him study the case file and assemble his witnesses.
However, counsel to the defendants, Gbenga Ariyibi sought for bail assuring that the defendants would be produced in the court at the next adjournment date.
Chief Magistrate Adegoke, who adjourned the case to October 6, 2020 for hearing, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety each in like sum.
