President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda has been declared winner of the 2021 Ugandan Presidential election.
The result gives President Museveni, a 76 year old, who has been in power since 1986, a sixth term in office.
According to the Electoral Commission in Uganda, President Museveni won by 58.6 per cent, approximately 59 per cent, while his closest rival, 38-year-old Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine pulled 38.8 per cent, approximately 39 per cent.
However, the election has been alleged to be fraught with huge irregularities and characterised by rigging, which has rendered it incredible. Bobi Wine vowed to provide evidence of fraud.
During the election and counting of votes, all medium of communication including internet were shutdown and only government functionaries and their loyalists were given access to the means of communication.
